We are Omni-Butler, a bespoke Smart Home installation company based in Scotland. We specialise in adapting and designing Smart Homes that can aid the elderly and vulnerable in their daily lives. Having spoken to both a number of carers and individuals receiving care, we believe that we've finally come up with a system that benefits carers, those receiving care (the user) and the loved ones of those receiving care alike. After months of work we are proud to introduce Omni-Care a Smart Home designed to work in tandem with a visiting home carer. Omni-Care sends carers and family members notifications to keep them informed of the users living situation. Omni-Care will also help the user with many daily tasks. The user will be reminded to take scheduled medication and a notification will be sent to carers and selected close family members if the medication was missed.
The UK has an ageing population, this has put additional stresses upon an already strained care industry to meet the ever increasing demand for their services. This also puts additional stress on thousands of families in Scotland as many don’t want to put loved ones into care but have little other choice due to work and other family commitments.
Omni-Care could keep a family member living in their own home for a number of extra years. This gives the user a greater sense of independence as they can enjoy living in their own home, surrounded by their belongings. Omni-Care allows the user to carry out simply tasks that may have otherwise rendered them in pain.
With Omni-Care installed the users doesn’t need to get out of their seat to adjust the heating or to change the TV channel, the user can also have the news read to them daily and effortlessly start conference calls with carers, friends or family members just by calling out their names. This would enable the user to communicate with the outside world and their immediate surroundings without having to leave their seat.
According to a 2013/14 study by Laing & Buisson, the average cost of a year in care across the UK is between £29,270 and £39,300. For a fraction of that cost we can install a Smart Home specifically designed to work in tandem with a home carer, this is a cost effective method that could add years of independence to the users life.
Omni-Care will keep the users closest well informed of any mishaps that go on in the home between visits from the carer. If the user has a fall, forgets to take their medication, gets up in the night and doesn’t return to bed, leaves a dangerous appliance on or leaves the house then Omni-Care will react accordingly to help the user but will also send selected family members a notification so that they always know what’s going on. Independence met with aid for the user and piece of mind for the users closest.
